Desktop icons are missing?

Problem:
Error at start up: explorer.exe this application has failed to startshdocvw.dll
(not able to see icons or taskbar also you might get blank desktop)

Resolution:
-put the windows XP CD in to cd
-rom drive-press CTRL+ALT+DEL to enter task manager
-click on new task
-type in "cmd" (without quotation marks)
- in the command window type "expand e:\i386\shdocvw.dl_
c:\windows\system32\shdocvw.dll
(here e: drive is your cd rom drive)
- c:\windows\system32\shdocvw.dll
- Restart the computer
